- Running your computer when it’s not in use wastes energy. Shut down the monitor if you don’t plan to use the computer in the next 20 minutes. Many computers have a setting to enable which will do this automatically, so you don’t have to worry about it.
- For optimum energy efficiency and comfort, set your water heater temperature to 120 degrees.
- Check the temperature inside your refrigerator and freezer. For energy efficiency, the fridge should be set between 36 and 38 degrees; the freezer should be set between 0 and 5 degrees.
- Conserve energy by switching the ceiling fan off before leaving a room. Fans help keep people comfortable. They do not condition spaces.
