Project Care

YOUR CHANGE CAN CHANGE LIVES!

Did you know that by rounding up your utility bill to the nearest dollar you can change the lives of those in our community?

On February 1, 2018, Dalton Utilities began automatically rounding up your utility bill (not OptiLink) to the nearest dollar for Project CARE!

Project CARE is a program administered by the Salvation Army that helps people in our community who need assistance with their utility bills and rent. Each month, Dalton Utilities transfers your donated change from rounding up your bill to the Salvation Army, who distributes the funds to local families in need.

Project CARE only allows financial assistance once a year. It is not a monthly assistance program. Project CARE is available to individuals and families who have had a sudden change in circumstances like an unexpected doctor’s bill, a major car repair or a change in their job situation.  The goal of Project CARE is to offer a helping hand to people in time of trouble.

So what does this mean for you? It means that you will donate, on average, 50¢ cents per month to a very worthy local cause.  For example, if your utility bill were $138.67, we would round your bill up to $139.00. Meaning that you would donate 33¢ cents.  On average, your round up will be around 50¢ a month, or $6.00 a year, and never more than 99¢ per month! It may not seem like a large sum, but when we all join together each cent donated adds up quickly.  You also have the option of adding a set amount to your bill each month, like $1.00, $2.00 or more.
