Dalton Utilities has provided the City of Dalton with electricity since 1898. Throughout the years, Dalton Utilities has expanded its electrical service to meet the needs of a growing community…as well as the needs of the burgeoning world-class carpet industry.

- Dalton Utilities serves approximately 14,523 electrical customers.
- The annual consumption of electricity by the utility's customers is 273 megawatts (MW)
- Dalton Utilities get its electricity from three sources.
- Owned generation - Dalton Utilities owns partial interests in two nuclear and two coal-fired power plants.
- Southeastern Power Administration (SEPA) sells Dalton Utilities hydroelectric power.
- Southern Wholesale Energy sells blocks of power to Dalton Utilities to meet peak demand.
- Dalton Utilities is one of four joint owners of the Georgia Integrated Transmission System. Dalton Utilities shares electrical transmission lines that run throughout the state of Georgia.
- Dalton Utilities owns eight substations with a total 464 MVA (mega volt amp) capacity, 350 miles of line, and 51 12kV circuits.
- Dalton Utilities provides a total of 21.5 MW of distributed generation from its diesel-fueled emergency generators located at various Dalton Utilities facilities.
