This school year, Dalton Utilities once again provided area 3rd and 4th grade classrooms with resource packets for the program, “I’m In The Know About H20,” which was created by the Utility to teach students the importance of water conservation and preservation of drinking water sources. As part of the program, students were invited to submit artwork highlighting conservation tips.
The DNR Wildlife Resources Division, in cooperation with Dalton Utilities, will be conducting two youth duck hunts on Dalton Utilities Land Application Facility located in Murray County, Georgia.
Dalton Utilities will be holding three quota hunts for deer during the 2011 hunting season. Selections for these hunts will be drawn randomly by the DNR. Applications must be received by 10 a.m. September 13, 2011.
On May 19, 2011, Dalton, Georgia hosted the 2011 Manufacturing Summit at the Northwest Georgia Trade & Convention Center. The Summit featured such high profile speakers as T. Boone Pickens; Steve Moore of the Wall Street Journal; Georgia Congressman Tom Graves; Tom Fanning, the CEO of Southern Company; and Dr. Bud Peterson, President of Georgia Tech University discussing the growth of manufacturing in the United States – and all the challenges associated with that growth – and manufacturing’s importance to the national economy.
