In 1887, the Dalton Water Works was built at the site of the Crown Cotton Mill spring.

Since that time, Dalton Utilities' water system has grown to serve over 34,495 customers in the City of Dalton, as well as Whitfield and Murray counties. In fact, Dalton Utilities water demand is 25% of the entire water demand of the 15 counties of Northwest Georgia!

Facts about Dalton Utilities' water system:

  • How many customers does Dalton Utilities serve? 34,495
  • What is the daily water consumption? 37.4 million gallons
  • Where does Dalton Utilities get its water? From four sources:
    1. The Conasauga River/Coahulla Creek
    2. Mill Creek
    3. Freeman Springs
