Dalton Utilities’ Water – Quality and Value On Tap

In 1887, the Dalton Water Works (which later became Dalton Utilities) was built at the site of the Crown Cotton Mill spring.

Since that time, Dalton Utilities' water system has grown to serve over 34,000 customers in the City of Dalton, throughout Whitfield County and in portions of Murray and Catoosa counties. Daily water consumption is approximately 38 million gallons with a great portion of that number being used by local industry. In fact, Dalton Utilities water demand is 25% of the entire water demand of the 15 counties of Northwest Georgia.

In addition to a proven water conservation plan, Dalton Utilities has sufficient drought contingency storage to meet our customers' water needs for a two-month period in severe drought conditions with appropriate conservation measures implemented.
